Brief

Leonardo is a global high-tech company that operates in the Aerospace, Defence and Security sectors. Their Yeovil site houses the UK Fleet Operations Centre, providing 24hour worldwide support services to their customers’ helicopter fleets. Staffed by a team of experienced logistics and technical personnel, the operations centre provides customers with a one-stop support solution for all their Aircraft on Ground (AOG), spare parts and technical or maintenance requirements. In 2012 Quad Vision installed a 16-screen video wall within the facility and recently in 2019 the decision was taken to upgrade the entire system, modernising, improving the functionality and providing greater collaboration for the operations team. Leonardo wanted to leverage new technology and provide greater interactivity to support delivery of data driven decision making. Being an approved supplier to the group and having provided ongoing support to the original system, Quad Vision were asked to supply and install an enhanced 16 screen video wall and supporting equipment at the Yeovil facility.

The Solution

The original installation was a bespoke 8-meter LCD video wall displaying graphs, maps, news flashes and individual helicopter statistics.

The new system delivers additional functionality with the addition of two independent source screens; 49” and 55” in size. These are both interactive touch screens and are linked to the video wall, allowing information to be shared from a secure network for team viewing and interaction, delivering greater collaboration.

A 23” system control touchscreen with the latest user interface software was also created to allow a user to more easily manipulate the information on the video wall and interact with the visible content. Again, supporting increased team collaboration by providing an accessible meeting space and video conferencing functionality.

The video wall system can also be used for sales and marketing purposes, with the capability to demonstrate advanced support services to new and existing customers using high quality content across all screens.

The new video wall required a new pop out framing system allowing for ease of access and maintenance. Quad Vision undertook full installation, cabling and management and provided a racked control system to complete the package.

Leonardo will also benefit from Quad Vision’s ongoing support and service contract.
