Case study: TUMI ~ Covent Garden

Brief
TUMI is the leading international business accessory and travel lifestyle brand, founded in 1975 and now part of the Samsonite family. During the 1980's, TUMI's innovative introduction of soft, ultra-functional, black-on-black ballistic nylon travel bags catapulted the company to its current leadership position. TUMI wanted to emulate and improve on the in store design of another central London store in the redesign of their Covent Garden store. Following consultation with MD of Quad Vision Sanjay Saini, chose to have installed 2 LCD video walls in a column or portrait style. A great cost effective solution, delivering the best resolution for the application.
Solution

The orientation of the ultra thin bezel screens in this column style format meant that Quad Vision had to cleverly manipulate and maintain the resolution from standard High Definition of 1080p x 1920p to 853p x 1920p using a single Brightsign player.

In total eight 46” Samsung screens were used for this installation to create two visually stunning video walls. Video extenders, extended screens back to the control room where the controller and extenders are racked.

The Covent Garden TUMI store was also to benefit from a 42” Elo touchscreen ordering system which is linked to a PC controller and allows customers to browse and purchase product online and whilst in store. This is a growing trend among retail stores and enhances the customers visit, allowing them immediate and full purchase access to the entire product catalogue whilst being immersed in the branded environment.

Quad Vision are remotely managing the video wall content provided by TUMI, a service which is available to all customers and enables retail stores to have the most up to date and relevant content on display, with the minimum amount of fuss or involvement by store personnel.
