Case study: Hitachi Information Control Systems Europe
“Using a custom-designed frame is far more cost-effective for a client than re-designing a restricted space! In the case of Hitachi, space really was limited. Fortunately, Quad Vision is expert in producing custom frames on a short lead-time. This was good news for Hitachi!” Robin Hughes
Brief
Hitachi Information Control Systems Europe is a UK-based provider of software products for railway signalling and operations, including simulators and automatic route setting systems. They are also the integrator of traffic management systems for the UK and European market, working closely with Hitachi Rail Europe Ltd.Hitachi Information Control Systems Europe approached Quad Vision with a requirement for a custom-built LCD mounting for touch screen, CCTV screen and 21.3" displays for their customer, Network Rail. The mounting solution was required to fit in a particularly restricted area. In particular, the framework was to provide high rigidity due to combined use of conventional / touch-screens.
Solution

Quad Vision produced a custom mount desk monitor solution within an exceptionally tight lead-time. The robust custom-designed framework was designed to fit around a heavily restricted 90° corner of a desk. The framework carries various screen types including conventional screens and touch-screens.

The bespoke system was desk mounted and bolted firmly in place. Care was taken to optimise rigidity using a specialist frame to minimise vibration and ‘shake’, for example, when operating touch-screens.

A specialist custom framework was created that would fit into a restricted area and hold all the displays a signalman would require. Quad Vision’s bespoke mounting ensured that the framing was robust enough to hold screens rigid, even with interaction with touch screens.

With restrictions on space, Quad Vision optimised screen ergonomics by carefully matching user height to screen positioning. In particular, the framework was designed with future expansion – further monitors can be added at a later date without any further changes to the framework.

Quad Vision provided a turn-around of 10 days from enquiry and initial brief through to delivery, installation and commissioning.

As well as bespoke frames, Quad Vision also supports Hitachi with a variety of multi-screen display servers and display mounting solutions. Servers range from 2 to 10 outputs.
