Brief
Working with some of the world’s most iconic brands such as Google and the BBC, Squint/Opera, a London-based creative digital design agency, approached Quad Vision with a brief on behalf of Newham Council. The brief was to produce a high impact, interactive 9 screen mobile video wall to be used as part of the 2012 London Olympic Games. The video wall needed to be 138″ in the diagonal, free standing, and capable of playing 4K x 2K media. It was important that it was easy to dismantle and reassemble for relocation to different venues. Newham Council’s key objective was to highlight the commercial property investment potential in Newham to local and foreign investors.
The Solution
Quad Vision designed a bespoke frame to support the 9 x HD screens as a freestanding mobile video wall display. This allowed users to quickly and easily dismantle and reassemble the video wall at various venue sites.
One of Newham Council’s requirements was to ensure the mobile video wall had a styled ‘futuristic’ look. Quad Vision utilised specialist cladding to provide the right ‘look and feel’ that would meet the brief.
The technical solution comprised a Quad Vision Display System together with eSign back-end software to drive the 9 individual HD displays. The screens were specified to achieve strong luminosity to ensure maximum visibility to passers-by.
Quad Vision’s key focus was to ensure the 9 x screen video wall could be easily dismantled and re-assembled by a non-specialist. Particular attention was paid to the packaging to ensure the video wall could be transported without any damage.
Media content was prepared by Squint Opera and displayed in high definition on each individual screen.
The video wall was provided with an easy-to-use interactive information display, all controlled via an i-Pad.
